Kelly King through Bat Country Art works to combine knowledge and skill of different artistic endeavors and training.

Attending school for special effects make-up, while being inspired by pop culture and evolving natural elements, her artwork creates a fluid blend of awareness and appreciation. Of her special-effects skills, mold making and casting have become a large part of King’s professional background, along with sculpting and painting, which is why she’s incorporated them into a larger body of work.

Previous collections have worked with the movement of nature and found objects bringing relatability to each enthusiast. Utilizing the motion and movement of dexterity, hands have become the theme for King’s current collection through lifecasting, using individual personalities as the inspiration for what each piece will evolve into by way of sculpting, painting, etc.

“Always gesticulating” was a superlative that has carried with King throughout her life and will be showcased through these pieces' inherent fluidity. As an overly gesticulative person, Kelly King has always been drawn to the movement of phalanges, the fluidity of hands, and what it says about the person they belong to. This series of sculptures will consist of hands and will be lifecast at Backfence Society.

If the person being lifecast is unfamiliar, King will get to know them and then apply that to her overall sculpture, giving life through details. The hand shape and form they have chosen and their personality will lead to the creation of the piece. King will sculpt, paint, and utilize all of her skills to create something fantastic that will take each medium lending itself to an overall escapism.

There will be a small bio of each hand model included, documenting the journey to the final piece. The idea of involving the audience with a Bat Country Art piece carries with Kelly King’s ethos as she is one to spread joy and excitement to every observer. Kelly King’s anticipation about this passionate art collection has been stewing and is about to boil over with excitement, soon to come to fruition!
