Vista's vibrant music scene is the new go-to spot
With a rich history and growing culture, Downtown Vista has become a popular place to shop, unwind, dine, attend festivals, hear live music and more. At WildWood Crossing, for example, patrons can hear live music at least five days a week - from jazz to rock to 80’s tunes and everything in between.
WildWood attracts some of the best live music talent in the area, including local Clay Colton. If you’re into karaoke, head over to WildWood on Thursday and Saturday nights to test your skills.
Downtown Vista is full of other fun live music venues, including Belching Beaver Brewery Tavern & Pub, Vista Village Pub, and Partake Gastropub to name a few. Check out our calendar for new music events being added weekly — from Broadway musicals to open mic nights. And don’t forget to check out the live music during Vista Night Out every first Friday of the month.
Local musician's dream
One local musician who regularly performs in Downtown Vista is HLLNDR.
“I’ve been performing in Downtown Vista for about four years and I love the vibe,” the Vista native said. “There’s a lot more opportunity Downtown now for local artists to showcase their talent and share with the community.”
Some of HLLNDR’s favorite live music venues in downtown Vista include Belching Beaver and Town Hall Public House (formerly the Flying Pig Pub and Kitchen, as well as the variety of festivals that are held every year.
She said on Thursday nights, there’s plenty of entertainment Downtown to choose from. “There’s a really great movement for local music in Downtown Vista right now. We’re so grateful for this amazing community of music thriving in this area.”
A few years ago, HLLNDR even performed at the annual Rhythm & Brews Festival in Downtown Vista, and this year played at the Alley Art Festival. “It was an incredible turn out with outstanding vendors all through the Downtown area. I personally loved seeing so many artists show up and display their talents. It was such a rad experience.”
HLLNDR said Downtown Vista’s growing music scene helps add to the historic area’s charm and vibrancy. She said she loves the opportunity and honor of performing in her hometown, which she described as a gem with lots of character.
“Live music in Vista brings an awesome vibe to a town that is already thriving. I definitely think live music brings more foot traffic and attention to the incredible businesses we already have. It’s a musician’s job to help promote wherever they’re playing, and when you’re performing in Downtown Vista, it makes it very easy to advertise.”
