Quicksketch is a class to master the figure in a short series of techniques in life drawing. It's fun, fast paced - you'll learn to slow down while speeding up, and how to turn your figures into intuitive, beautiful calligraphy.

Space is limited - Please email vetch@pacbell.net to RSVP

Though it may seem intimidating at first, those serious few who seek to refine their figure practice into the bare basics to be able to invent figures or polish long poses will learn to love this class as the most necessary part of any figure drawing regimen. When you can capture all the most important pieces of a pose from life in 1,2, 3, and 5 minute poses, anything longer is a piece of cake - and you find you have all the time in the world to add the extras.

This class is a must for illustrators, comic book artists, figure painters, and anyone who wants to learn to work fast by slowing down. With a good attitude and an eager passion for art, it will be the funnest class you've ever taken, leaving you wanting more! It becomes delightfully addictive, and your figures will get very good and very quick.

This is is *not* an advanced class - this is a basic class, and should be in the foundational toolbox of every artist!

$15 suggested donation - helps cover cost for live model.

Materials - please bring with you to class:

*Charcoal pencils, 2B and 4B
*Kneaded rubber eraser
*18x24" Smooth newsprint pad (must be smooth) with a firm backing (foamcore or board) attached with dog clips
*Straight edge razor blade for learning to sharpen the pencils a certain way to get any kind of edge immediately

OPTIONAL - If you bring tracing paper (also 18x24"), the teacher will do drawings over your own to show you how to better master the technique. You can have the drawings without the tracing paper too, right on your own pad.

There will be a 20 minute demo each class, with procedure and technique lessons, and then The rest of the class will be drawing from life. 1, 2, 3, 5, and at the end, 20 minute drawings. There will be detailed instruction on the way to go about each time setting to get the most out of them, and optional constructive critiques of your work at any time - with corrections and demonstrations of how to get better on your own pad which you can keep.

You can come just to draw the figure if you want to skip the instruction as well, but priority will be given to students as there is limited space.

This kind of instruction and training is not offered many places. Take advantage of it while you can - it will only improve ANY art you do!
