Details
Twenty-five contestants are invited to participate in an inaugural TAMALE CONTEST during WINTERFEST 2019, December 8, in Vista Village.
Contest will be judged at 2:30 pm by community members including Councilman Joe Green, VUSD Trustree Cipriano Vargas and Chef Ramiro Guerra of the Belching Beaver.
Contestants must bring tamales and arrive no later than 1:45pm. Details for day-of competition presentations will be sent out Dec 1. Winners will be announced on the Vestar Stage (in front of Starbucks) on the day of the event. Winner receives a golden tamale trophy and accolades as the VISTA TAMALE CHAMPION of 2019!!
Tamales can be any flavor profile - PLEASE NO SEAFOOD due to SEVERE ALLERGY of one of our judges! Get creative with your tamale making skills. Tamales will be judged on the following criteria:
-Presentation
-Flavor
-Texture
-Creativity
